The folks at Vote-now have always championed a more sustainable way of voting. For example, we pioneered the use of email and postcards (rather than paper ballots) to provide voters with the information they need to make their choices via the Internet rather than returning a paper ballot. This reduces the use of paper, printing costs, and the fuel used for transportation/delivery. Still, a major problem faced by all electronic voting companies is the continuous energy required to maintain the election servers 24/7 and the resulting carbon footprint.
Now, with the installation of a 4 Kwh solar array, we are proud to be generating MORE electricity into the grid (and thus cutting fossil fuel use) than the sum of all our servers, routers, switches & computers! So when you use Vote-now for your election process, you are also "voting" for a more sustainable way of conducting elections!
